Brazilian Ambassador to the United States

Retrieved on 2011-10-14. .〕 The title given by the Ministry of External Relations to this position is currently "Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary" ((ポルトガル語:Embaixador Extraordinário e Plenipotenciário)).
The United States was the first country to recognize Brazil's independence〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=Department of State )〕 and the nation's first legation was thus established in Washington. It was founded January 1, 1824, when José Silvestre Rebello presented his credentials to President James Monroe. In 1905 the legation was raised to a full embassy.
